If issues such as hair loss and baldness are problem for you, don’t worry because there are solution for these problems. There are two types of treatment methods to get your hair back. The one is surgical methods, other one is non-surgical method.
We can separate the surgical method into two different techniques. These are Follicular Unit Transplant known as FUT and Follicular Unit Extraction also known as FUE. These techniques are the most commonly used methods in hair transplant treatment. And also these techniques are the most effective and have the highest success rate. However, there are some differences between the FUT and the FUE technique.
Before the differences of the FUT and the FUE, there is a benefit to remind what is the FUT technique and the FUE technique.
Shortly, the FUT technique is done by surgeon cuts a strip of skin from a healthy part of the patient’s head where are usually the back or side of the patients’ head, and transplant individual hair follicles into the balding or thinning part of the patients head.
When we come from the FUE technique, surgeons take grafts, which can include one or more hair follicles from the back or side of the patients’ head and plant them into balding or thinning areas called the recipient area.
Let’s look at the differences the FUT and FUE.
|Follicular Unit Exrtaction – FUE||Follicular Unit Transplant– FUT|
|FUE methods work with individual hair follicular bases. So, it is good for relatively small transplants such as younger patients.||Good for patients because of the huge amount of the grafts|
|Patients need to shave the whole head. But there is a technique called U-FUE which means unshaven.||There is no need to shave the whole head. Patients can cover their scar with existing hair.|
|There is no linear scar on the back or side of the head caused by taking grafts.||Scar occurs after the FUT procedure. After the FUT treatments, stitch marks may remain in the donor area.|
|FUE treatment is more expensive than FUT.||FUT is usually cheaper when we compare with the FUE.|
|Painless and require a local anesthetic.||Painless and require a local anesthetic.|
All in all, the FUT and the FUE technique are the most preferred and most successful surgical techniques. Also, they are the most common and widely used techniques used in hair transplantation treatment. Both have advantages and disadvantages that you may consider which one is for you.
