Hair Transplant FUE is the most common technique used to treat hair loss and alopecia. If you consider getting a hair transplant procedure, you probably know why it is the most preferred hair transplant procedure. But we will try to explain this fact to those who never heard about the Hair Transplant FUE before.

Hair Transplant Procedures

Hair transplant procedures consider as the only permanent solution for hair loss problems. Although there are some non-surgical methods, surgical hair transplant procedures give you more accurate results compared to non-surgical procedures because the effectiveness of the non-surgical procedures hasn’t been proven yet.

Basically, there are three hair transplant procedures performed by today’s cosmetic clinics and hospitals.

Follicular Unit Extraction – FUE

Most parts of the hair transplant procedures are similar to each other. In the basics, a surgeon extracts hair grafts from the back of your head and plant extracted hair grafts to the recipient area where you need to see hair in your head.

Hair transplant methods can be distinguished when you look at the extracting and planting technique. In the Follicular Unit Extraction method, surgeons extract hair follicles by applying pointcuts and planting them one by one.

Side Effects Of Follicular Unit Extraction

  • Bleeding and swelling of the scalp
    • This is the most prevalent side effect that some people may experience.
  • Post-Surgical Edema
    • Post-surgical edema, or the accumulation of fluid that produces swelling after surgery, is another typical adverse effect. This can happen in up to 42% of hair transplant patients.
  • Itchiness
    • Itching in the transplanted area is possible. Itching can be relieved by washing hair without using fragrant shampoos.
  • Shock Loss
    • The most common cause of shock loss is when newly transplanted hair falls out abruptly after the treatment.
  • Hiccups
    • The less prevalent side effect is hiccups. It can be seen in about 4% of hair transplant recipients.
  • Scarring
    • The donor area may leave a large or elevated scar throughout the transplantation process. Although elevated scars are unusual, about 15% of individuals will have a wide scar.
